Hi, I 'm Maggie!
Digital Media Professor. Graphic Designer. Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are basically extensions of my hands at this point.
Since 2021, I've taught graduate and undergraduate students at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) right after finishing my M.Ed. in Art, and later joined Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) in 2025.
My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching approach centers on student engagement and mastery—I want students to genuinely enjoy the creative process and take pride in what they produce. I structure my classroom like a working design agency, with real briefs, deadlines, and critique, so students meet industry expectations before they ever leave the classroom. I meet students where they are, hold them to honest standards, and never lower the bar for "beginner" — I adjust the runway instead.
Every Pixel Counts
I teach people how to tell stories with pixels: through type, layout, video, and a little bit of tough love. My Vietnamese heritage shapes my teaching just as much as my design background does. I grew up in a culture that values respect, patience, and learning by doing alongside someone who's done it before you — and that's exactly how I run my classroom: hands-on, relationship-driven, and rooted in genuine care for each student's growth.
